People with an assessed mental disorder, such as anxiety, depression and Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder may obtain a Medicare refund for psychological treatment under the Australian Government’s Better Access to Mental Health Care program. In order to access this program, you must first make an appointment with your general practitioner, psychiatrist or paediatrician to obtain a Mental Health Care Plan before seeking treatment with us. National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)
HMHK is a service provider of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). If your child is part of the NDIS and you are being managed by NDIS then the cost of the treatment will be billed to NDIS or the third-party organisation. During your initial appointment, the clinician will complete a service agreement with you. HMHK charges 1.2 hours for every hour session (individual sessions) and 1.5 hours for every hour of group session, with 0.2 and 0.5 hours respectively being claimed for clinical time. Clinical time includes but is not limited to, note taking, letter writing and claiming. Should a more detailed report be required, further fees may apply; your treating psychologist will discuss this with you.
Should you attend any sessions with HMHK and do not have enough funds to cover the cost of the sessions, you will be required to pay for these sessions privately.
If you are Self-Funded under the NDIS program, you will be required to pay for the service on the day. You will be considered a Private Client and will be charged according to the Private Client Fee Schedule.
Private Health Insurance
We recommend that you contact your private health insurance company to investigate whether you are covered for psychological services and to determine the amount you are likely to receive for each session.
We strive to provide you with affordable, high quality psychological services. Our fees are lower than the Australian Psychological Society’s recommended fees. Our fees vary, depending on the service you receive and your treating psychologist. Please contact us for information regarding the cost of services at HMHK.
We understand that some families may not be able to afford our regular services. We established our Student Clinic to help provide reduced-rate services for such families.
Fees are payable at the time of service. You can pay via cash, EFTPOS or credit card. We have a HICAPS system that provides you with an easy and efficient payment method (EFTPOS/credit card) and claim submission method for Medicare and most private health insurance companies.
