Patricia Joannou

Patricia, a Clinical Psychology Registrar, works part-time with our practice offering assessment and treatment services for young people. She easily connects with and engages young people with her friendly and vibrant personality. She uses a range of treatments, including: cognitive behaviour therapy, trauma focused cogntive behaviour therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, dialactic behaviour therapy and parenting skills. 

Patricia also works as a Psychologist/ Clinical Support Officer at Wesley Dalmar, providing evidence based assessment and intervention to children in out-of-home care. Patricia has a signficant amount of experience working with children who have experienced trauma and complex mental health presentations. Patricia has worked for Headspace, providng psycholgical internvtion to young people (12-25 years). Patricia also continues to vulunteer as a Lifeline Crisis Support worked, providing telephone support to members of the public who are in crisis. As an intern psychologist, Paticia provided individual and group based psycholoical intervention at the Prevention Early Intervention Recovery Service in parramatta, working with young people (aged 12-25) whoe were presenting with moderate to severe mental health issues. 

Patricia has always had a passion for working with young people. Before training to be a psychologist Patricia worked extensively with young people and their families as a community support worker and Senior Case Manager. In these roles she provided individual and group based intervention for 'at risk' children and families. 

Patricia obtained her Master of Clinical Psychology from the Woolongong University and a Bachelor of Arts (Psychology) Honours. Patricia is a Registered Psychologist with the  Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). While Patricia has a Clinical Master degree, in her first two years of psychological practice she will be undertaking the registrar program to become an endorsed Clinical Psychologist. Patricia's principal supervisor is Birgitta Osterberg. She is an associate member of the Australia Psychological Society (APS) and a member of the College of Clinical Psychology. Patricia is a registered service provider of the Australian Government’s Better Outcomes for Mental Health Care Program and a provider of the National Disability Insurance Scheme.
